Emily studied dentistry in the UK but moved to Australia in 2013 in search of a sunnier lifestyle.

She has worked in both the government and private sectors and started working at Fraser Shores Family Dental in February 2017.

Emily knew she wanted to be a dentist from a very young age to the surprise of her mother, a dental phobic.

She takes pride in her work being a very thorough and gentle dentist who has been complemented previously in her ability to help the very anxious with attending.

In her spare time Emily enjoys beach walks with her ball mad dogs Jet and Ally. In true Aussie style she enjoys her weekends away with her fluffy friends, partner, 4×4 drive and swag.

Dr Kaoutar is better known as Kat to all her patients, grew up in Melbourne before moving to Hervey bay since marrying Dr Khaled in 2014. Dr Kat graduated with honours from the University of Melbourne in 2007, having won numerous prizes and awards for her academic achievements throughout her degree.

Dr Kat worked for 7 years in the heart of Melbourne CBD, in the largest privately owned practice in Australia. During her time at Smile Solutions, Dr Kat had the privileged of working among Australia’s leading dentists and specialists in every aspect of dentistry.

Dr. James Liu is a graduate of James Cook University. Having grown up in Brisbane, he studied in Cairns and is living now in Hervey bay.
James moved to the Wide bay area in 2015. Having worked in Bundaberg, MacKay and Mt Isa, Dr. Liu was drawn to Hervey Bay by its stunning local beaches and beautiful weather.

Dr. Liu is gentle, caring and thorough in his approach to looking after his patients.
He enjoys rebuilding smiles and giving people back their confidence.

In his spare time, Dr. Liu loves to travel, read books and enjoys going to the gym to keep fit.


Alexandra grew up a variety of places in Australia, including Brisbane, Queensland, the Gold Coast and Rockhampton. She has lived locally since 2014 and qualified as a dental hygienist/ dental therapist in 2013. Alexandra’s specialties include paediatric dentistry and periodontics.

If you have children then Alexandra is the person to see as she is specially trained to treat children and teenagers and is particularly good at empathising with children who have dental phobias or who are at all frightened of dental visits. Alexandra takes the time to get to know each child and to understand why they have any phobias so she can work out how best to treat them. Alexandra also visits schools as she is very good at teaching children about Oral hygiene in a way that is fun yet informative. She is also responsible for carrying out our Zoom whitening treatments.

Alexandra enjoys sports, in particular bushwalking and she is a member of Bayside Women’s soccer team.


Dr Vellani graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney in 1987. Upon graduation, he was offered a place in the Masters program in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Sydney. In 1988, he was appointed a clinical associate in the Department of Operative Dentistry at the United Dental Hospital, Sydney and In 2004, Dr Vellani was appointed a clinical associate in the Department of Oral Surgery at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. In 2006, he obtained a Graduate Diploma in Intravenous Sedation from the University Of Sydney.

Obtaining his Graduate Diploma in Intravenous Sedation qualifies Dr Vellani as a Dental Board approved Dental Sedationist and he now provides a bespoke intravenous sedation service to some of the very best practices in Sydney, the Central Coast, regional NSW, and interstate.

Dr Vellani is a member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Implant Dentistry and Australian Society of Dental Anesthesiology.

He is married with two children and holds a childhood passion for aviation.
