There is a new orthodontic treatment that's built for you, Invisalign treatment is a discreet and highly effective solution using tried and tested technologies to straighten teeth without any metal brackets.

What is Invisalign Clear Aligners?

Invisalign clear aligners is a removable orthodontic system using clear BPA-free plastic aligners that are custom-made to fit tightly but comfortably over your teeth. Once in the mouth, the aligners are virtually invisible, most people will not even recognise you are wearing one. The aligners gradually move your teeth into positions predetermined during the planning phase. All you need do is to ensure you wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day. Every set is worn for two weeks, after which you discard them and begin wearing the next set in the series. You will see your teeth start to straighten gradually.

Who Can Have Invisalign Treatment?

Many adults will be suitable for Invisalign treatment. Some older teens might also be able to have Invisalign treatment, provided they have excellent compliance, as the aligners must be worn for at least 22 hours daily for treatment to be successful. Failing to wear the aligners correctly could prolong treatment or disrupt the treatment plan significantly.

Planning Invisalign Treatment

Planning Invisalign treatment can be an enjoyable process, allowing patients to become involved. After assessing you for your suitability, we capture detailed dental impressions and photos of your teeth. The information is utilised by Invisalign treatment’s specialised software to create simulated 3-D images of your teeth. The images are manipulated to show how your teeth will move and how they will look once your treatment is complete. You get the chance to view these images to see if you like your predicted smile and to approve the final treatment plan before your aligners are fabricated. Once made, we will show you how to insert and remove the aligners and how to clean them thoroughly to ensure they remain fresh and hygienic.

How Long Will It Take to Straighten Teeth with Invisalign Treatment?

The length of treatment varies according to the issues requiring correction. Some people only need cosmetically oriented changes affecting their front teeth and could complete treatment in just a few months. Typically, treatment takes a year, but it could be longer if you need significant bite adjustments.

After completing Invisalign treatment, you will need to wear Vivera retainers as bone and ligaments around the teeth need time to remodel, so the teeth are held securely in their new locations. Until this happens, there is a risk of tooth movement, as the teeth will try to return to their original positions. Wearing retainers prevents this from occurring. Vivera retainers are made from the same clear plastic, and so are incredibly discreet to wear, but they are an essential final step of your treatment.
